SAG always cause reset after phone call

Postby zerook » Sun Sep 14, 2008 4:27 pm

My combination:
Treo 680
iTech CLIP D RADIO
SAG 1.22.2230
pTunes 3.18

My problem:
I can use my headset to listen to music and make phone call easily.
But, when I am listening to music in the A2DP mode, there must be a reset if I hang up a call. No matter it is an incoming call or I make a call out.

This really annoys me.
Who can help me resolve this?

First of all, try to reinstall Audio Gateway according to the installation manual.
Also I can suggest you to update your version of pTunes up to the latest 4.0.7 version. It has improved phone calls support.

There is chance that it will work better for you.

Unfortunately, I'm having the same problem, and I've tried this, already.

Every time I make/receive a phone call while listening to PT 4.0.7, using SAG 1.22, either using my Insignia NS-BTHDP or my Plantronics Voyager 855 headsets, and within 5 seconds of the call ending and the audio reconnect via SAG, the phone performs a soft reset.

I've even tried the settings listed in the manual to help assist with resets...no go.

My experiences with SAG (v1.22)
Sometimes when starting a2dp and then pTunes there is no sound on bt headset. I have to switch back to internal speaker and then to a2dp again in SAG. It repairs this.
After starting successfully it works fine. I can hear music, receive calls and start calls.
After stopping it everything works fine until bt is active. Ie. I can receive calls on bt headset and so on.
After bt is off, Centro is making a soft reset when receiving or making the first phone call.
I tend to soft reset centro when finishing the use of SAG, but it is so bad :-(

Any fix for this?
Othervise it is a good app. Only this bug should be fixed somehow.

Did you switch SAG into the "Internal speaker" mode before turning off the bluetooth?
If no, please try to switch, this may help.

I've tried, and it seems to solve the problem. Anyhow, it would be nice to make this automatic, either as an option in the next version.

Thank you for the advice.

Palm OS bluetooth library doesn't broadcast notification about turning off the bluetooth.
Unfortunately we can't handle this.

That's true, but I meant, to make an option in SAG, that whenever there is no active known BT device, switch back to internal speaker.
Palm's BT service will go automatically to OFF aftera configured time (Power Hero takes care of it)

Power Hero is 3rd party software and is not universally available to all Treo owners.

Besides, Power Hero will switch off the BlueTooth on a schedule or after a period of inactivity but it will never disconnect an active BlueTooth connection. As long as SAG is running and holds the connection open then Power Hero should not disconnect or power down the BlueTooth radio in your Treo.

Remembering to switch SAG back to the internal speaker when you are finished listening to your MP3 playlist isn't very hard. Once you make it a habit it becomes quite easy.

Just for kicks, I tried this again...following, exactly, the steps in the installation guide, and the problem remains.

And I was running PT 4.0.7...I'm now running 5.0.0...the behavior remains...and I don't think it has anything to do with PT...I could have PT not running at all, and the same behavior would continue.

Is there no update on this issue since May of this year?

I have the same problem...latest SAG, latest pTunes, Palm Centro, and every time a call comes in while I'm using SAG, the Centro freezes within a few seconds after hanging up. Have to disassemble the darn thing to get the battery out of it to do a reset.

I've followed the precise directions in the installation manual twice; no change. The upgrade to the latest pTunes made no difference.

This is a pretty big problem. Is it solvable?
